Hugo Vickers

Hugo Vickers is a biographer, broadcaster and lecturer. He was born in 1951, and educated at Strasbourg University. His books are: We Want The Queen, 1977 Gladys, Duchess of Marlborough, 1979 Debrett’s Book of the Royal Wedding, 1981 Cocktails & Laughter (edited), 1983 Cecil Beaton, 1985 Vivien Leigh, 1988 Royal Orders, 1994 Loving Garbo, 1994 The Private World of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, 1995 The Kiss, 1996 (won Stern Silver Pen for Non-Fiction) Alice, Princess Andrew of Greece, 2000 The Unexpurgated Beaton (edited), 2002 Beaton in the Sixties (edited), 2003 He is working on a biography of the Queen Mother. As a broadcaster, he has been an ITN studio guest for the weddings of the Prince of Wales, & the Duke of York, and the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, and assisted with ITN commentaries for the wedding of Prince Edward, and the Queen’s Mother 100th birthday, and funeral. He is frequently called upon as a royal expert, and appears regularly on CNN’s Larry King Live. He has lectured all over the world, including England, USA, Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, and on board ships, in particular Queen Elizabeth 2, etc. He has also devised two shows for the Windsor Festival - A Victorian Evening (with Prunella Scales), 2001, & The Queen Mother’s Century (with Edward Fox), 2002. He is also Chairman of the Jubilee Walkway Trust. He is married with three children, and lives in Hampshire and London.
