Nick Stone

Nick Stone was born in Cambridge, England on Halloween 1966, the son of a Scottish father and a Haitian mother. Nick descends from Haiti’s oldest family, the Aubrys. When he was six months old Nick was sent to live in Haiti with his grandparents. He returned to England in 1971 where he attended eight schools until the age of eighteen, and also took up amateur boxing. He read history at Cambridge University. Nick returned to Haiti in September 1996, where he remained until the end of 1997, witnessing the US-UN occupation of the island, which forms the backdrop of his first novel, MR CLARINET, winner of the 2006 CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger. In the United States, MR CLARINET also won both the International Thriller Writers Award for Best First Novel (2007) and the Macavity Award for Best First Novel (2007), and was nominated for The Barry Award for Best British Novel (2007). KING OF SWORDS, the prequel to MR CLARINET, was published in August 2007.
